A renovation of the existing cottage, demolition of previous non-concise extensions, and replacement and rationalisation of design through a contemporary two storey rear extension. The client approached Acres Architects to begin advising them how best to improve the property they had recently purchased, with the intention of it becoming their forever home. Their intent was to replace a dim, mock Neo-Gothic extension with a compelling contemporary extension that opened out the living spaces into the garden. The design intent is to retain the cosy, enclosed feel of the existing cottage, while creating a series of luxurious open plan spaces at the rear. The clients enjoy entertaining and have 3 children, so visibility through the property and into the garden was crucial.
