Site Works Progress on Wykebeck Primary School
Work on Wykebeck Primary School continues on site with visible progress. Scheduled for completion in October 2017, the primary school extension is set to provide increased capacity for their Early Years offering with a larger open plan learning space allowing the school to cater for the anticipated growth in intake over the next 5 -10 years.
The extensions concept seen in the sketch (right) is intended to inspire all of the pupils with its brilliantly colourful and ‘chaotic’ coloured canopy and its staggered windows, creating interesting spaces inside the new extensions. The envelope of the building is set to replicate the natural wooded surroundings of the school playground and site.
The final proposal (below) was unanimously approved by the Local Authority and the school’s governors and scheduled for implementation without delay. After an open market competitive tendering process, the successful contractors ‘RH Fullwood & Co’ have progressed on site diligently in efforts to have the project completed ASAP for the pupils and staff of the school.
Having worked on this project from inception to its current stage on site, I am proud to be part of a project that will provide an improved community asset and improve the everyday lives of the pupils at the school. We have have been very engaged with the school and academic team from day one and I am excited to continue to build on what has been an enjoyable relationship with the contractor to date on this and future projects.
